Lake Bukovniško Jezero
DobrovnikThe Bukovniško lake is a hidden treasure of the Goričko Landscape Park surrounded by a forest, which offers visitors the opportunity to rest and relax in nature.
The lake was created by damming the Bukovnica stream (around 1948 - 1949) as an anti-flood measure with regulatory works along the Ledava river. The lake will reward you (under the right conditions) with a mirror image of the surroundings, which makes the lake a great photo location and worth visiting.
Bukovniško lake, with its beautiful landscape offers visitors the perfect place to relax on the pier or benches around the lake, in the woods next to the Chapel st. Vid or at the spring of st. Vid. A special feature of the area are energy points (26 points) of beneficial energy radiation.
For more exploration-seeking visitors, the lake offers the opportunity to learn about nature on an easily accessible forest educational trail, fishing, picnics, camping, testing skills in an adventure park, discovering fairytale creatures on a fairytale trail around the lake and enjoying local food.
If you get involved in a conversation with the locals, they will almost certainly ask you if you washed your eyes with water from the spring st. Vitus. According to oral tradition, the water of the spring has improved sight and in some cases cured blindness.
In 2001 experts in downsing discovered more than 50 energy points (26 out of 50 points are marked today and you can visit them) and found out that there are two "lines of power" named “Dragon lines” that are crossing in the area where the chapel stands. We do not know exactly when the chapel was built, but we do know that in 1818 the wooden chapel was replaced by a brick one. Every year on 15th June, there is a fair and mass at the chapel which makes this place an interesting pilgrimage destination.
You can access the lake from the direction of Dobrovnik. If you are traveling by car, park in the parking area (payable). At the entrance to the lake area is a TIC office with a souvenir shop.
